More like 2.5.One of the things I really enjoyed about this book was Susan's character. She was funny and tragic and a good friend. I thought her situation was portrayed with sensitivity, and I greatly appreciated that there were no easy answers regarding her problems. Every time she and Eddie were on the page, the story went by in a flash. I also appreciated the explanation for the test and how it worked, and that everybody had different opinions and concerns about it. However, the beginning of the book said that the reader would learn how he came up with the test, but I learned more about the aftermath than I did the conception. While there were some sentences that could have used some clean-up, the writing was straightforward and there weren't many run on sentences. It was a very easy, light-hearted story to follow, and I thought the tone fit the title very well. I didn't always laugh at the situations, but I did smile once or twice. The parrot story gave me a good chuckle, as I have pets and I know how that is.
Here are some suggestions for the author when he works on his next projects. The thing that kept taking me out of the story were the more mundane details. Eddie tells us more than shows us how the process for the book went. When he says things were difficult, I had a hard time really feeling that. The part where we learn about Susan's past was excellent, and for me, that was the best part of the book, because we were shown a lot of Susan's character before and we finally get an explanation for it. I find stories about counselors very interesting, especially their experiences with clients, and since Eddie was a first time writer, I wanted to feel his struggle for conveying these stories with sensitivity and humor and grace. Eddie is a very likable character and I appreciated that his marriage wasn't perfect, despite him being a marriage counselor. I wanted to know more about his feelings on where the book was taking him.
There were also a few chapters that I felt could have been taken out to improve the pacing, such as when Eddie takes his girls on a drive up the mountain while Pam's mother is sick. It would have brought the story to the conflict sooner and made me want to engage with the story on a more personal level. I think another pair of eyes would help greatly pair down your stories and find the meat, theme, and heart of it. Personally, I would have gladly read this whole book as Eddie and Susan navigate their rocky work relationship as they try to work on something they both believe in. Like I said, both of them are very well rounded and likable characters. I know this was probably a one-shot story, but I hope you'll consider writing more stories with them in the future. I love them that much.
Another problem that I noticed that is probably more personal than how other readers will feel, were the two instances of stereotypes. One being the fat woman on the plane and the other being the Indian cab driver that doesn't speak proper English. I felt both of those scenes were unnecessary to the plot and could have been cut out without missing anything. It left a bad taste in my mouth more than anything.
Overall, I found the story enjoyable enough to read the whole thing. If the pacing issues and sentence clean up had occurred, this would have easily been four star or more for me, though other readers may interpret things differently. I hope this author continues working on his craft and his stories and I look forward to hearing about his next project.

To sum it up It's about a marriage counselor who decides to publish a book about some of his clients. Nothing can go wrong. Right? Enjoy the read. You will find yourself laughing out loud, then rereading it the people around you.
Check it out. You will be glad you did
Very good book! Good story with interesting characters and it kept me turning the pages. I loved the little girl Gracie with her blanket and toy cat. Susan, the editor, was an excellent character with her rather unusual personality quirks. I was hoping for a fun and easy read and this was it. I highly recommend it!
I have to say I downloaded this book because of the title....and it lived up to it! I told the author, it was a little slow the first two or three chapters, and then, BAM! I was hooked....it was so funny and full of surprises. It was so entertaining! A VERY GOOD READ....thank you, John Legget Jones, for the catchy title! I would highly recommend this book!
Thought it would be about older women like me, who are happy in our flannel gowns and granny panties. It's about a man! Hillarious and adventurous as he shares his marriage counseling stories while attempting to become an author, maintain his practice and keep his domineering wife happy! Couldn't put it down!
